Que ce soit durant « des interventions » ou en détention\, le nombre de victimes ne cesse de grandir. Et pour la plupart\, dans un silence médiatique complice et honteux. Nous ne pouvons rester impassibles devant une telle catastrophe.\n\n\nICE\, qu’est-ce que c’est ?\n\n\nDepuis 2003\, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) est l’agence fédérale chargée de faire appliquer les lois en lien avec les douanes et l’immigration aux États-Unis sous l’égide du département de la Sécurité intérieure (aux côtés du Service des douanes et de la protection des frontières\, ou CBP). À l’été 2025\, sous l’impulsion de Donald Trump\, le budget de l’agence explose : selon NPR le 21 janvier 2025\, les fonds du Service de l’immigration et des douanes des États-Unis sont passés de 10 milliards de dollars américains en 2024 à 85 milliards en 2026. Dotée de tels moyens\, l’agence peut désormais se consacrer plus intensément à traquer\, détenir et expulser des travailleur.ses illégalisé.es par le système et se trouvant sur le territoire des États-Unis.\n\n\nDans les faits\, les forces militarisées d’ICE arrêtent indistinctement des personnes en situation irrégulière\, immigrées ou considérées comme telles\, simplement à cause de leur accent ou de la couleur de leur peau. Les actes de barbarie à l’endroit des communautés racisées se multiplient et les victimes de cette violence sont innombrables.\n\n\nPour ce faire\, l’agence recrute depuis quelques mois des milliers d’agents en promettant des bonus à l’embauche. Ces agents sont formés de façon expéditive et presque immédiatement envoyés sur le terrain. Il nous semble plausible que son bassin de recrutement se fasse principalement au sein de la base MAGA et des milieux nationalistes blancs\, dont le racisme décomplexé est un trait caractéristique. On en revient donc à donner carte blanche (et badge) aux franges les plus violentes de l’extrême droite.\n\n\nCes agents masqués et armés semblent bénéficier d’un large champ d’action et d’une complète impunité. Dans les faits\, ICE est devenu en quelques mois une milice qui agit de façon autonome et qui semble de plus en plus hors de contrôle.\n\n\nMême si la violence de l’État envers les populations racisées n’est pas une nouveauté\, ni ici\, ni là-bas\, et qu’elle est structurelle\, il est indéniable que nous assistons aujourdhui à une réelle accélération du processus de fascisation de la société étatsunienne.\n\n\nCela fait de ICE\, selon notre analyse\, un appareil d’État littéralement protofasciste\, c’est-à-dire qui précède ou accompagne l’instauration d’un gouvernement fasciste aux États-Unis.\n\n\nMême si la milice ICE était dissoute\, le risque demeurera que ses membres entrainés\, surarmés et rompus aux tactiques militaires et paramilitaires — dans la lignée des chasseurs d’esclaves du 19e siècle –\, voire gestapistes\, veuillent poursuivre leur combat suprémaciste sous d’autres formes.\n\n\nQue se passe-t-il à Minneapolis ?\n\n\nDepuis le début du mois\, ICE et CBP ont lancé une campagne particulièrement virulente à Minneapolis. Les arrestations et les raids ont rencontré une farouche résistance de la part des communautés touchées et de leurs alliés antiracistes. Cette forte résistance a mené aux exécutions extrajudiciaires de deux personnes : Renee Good et Alex Pretti. Deux personnes ayant simplement voulu documenter les agissements des agents de ICE ou venir en aide à leurs voisin.es. Dans les deux cas\, malgré des vidéos et des preuves accablantes de la violence délibérée de la milice\, le gouvernement trumpiste maintient des versions de toute évidence mensongères.\n\n\nLa résistance s’organise\n\n\nDe plus en plus\, la résistance s’organise : les manifestations se multiplient\, les communautés développent des réseaux d’entraide\, surveillent activement la milice et empêchent certaines arrestations ; des syndicats déclenchent des grèves générales\, etc. Nos voisin.es du sud ne restent pas les bras croisés devant la catastrophe en cours.\nLes événements des derniers mois ont pu nous laisser sans voix et avec un sentiment de stupéfaction. Cette apathie qui nous pousse à rester chez nous sert en fait nos ennemis politiques. Elle a d’ailleurs servi à banaliser ce que vivent déjà depuis de nombreuses années bon nombre de communautés aux États-Unis\, mais également ici et ailleurs sous différentes formes. Nous croyons qu’il est grand temps de sortir collectivement dans la rue.\n\n\nPourquoi manifester ici ?\n\n\n-Démontrer que la solidarité ne connait pas de frontières\n-Dénoncer l’impérialisme américain\n-Souligner les conditions difficiles d’existence des personnes sans papiers qui exigent non pas de la répression et de la\nstigmatisation\, mais un programme de régularisation immédiate et complète\n-Soutenir la population canadienne et québécoise issue de l’immigration et/ou avec des statuts précaires\n-Envoyer un message de solidarité aux personnes qui luttent aux États-Unis contre ICE\n-Se rappeler que nous ne sommes pas à l’abri des conséquences d’un repli identitaire et nationaliste\n\n\nC’est pourquoi nous appelons donc à une vigile de solidarité le samedi 31 janvier 2026 à 15h30 au Square Phillips.\nCette initiative ne nous appartient pas : elle se veut comme un point de départ à une série d’actions au nord de la frontière en soutien avec nos camarades qui luttent au sud de la frontière. Elle doit être reprise partout et se multiplier.\nCe n’est qu’un début\, continuons le combat.\n\n\n————————————\n\n\nCallout for a Solidarity Vigil with the Victims of the Fascist ICE Militia\n\n\nWhen and where: Saturday\, January 31\, 3:30 p.m.\, Phillips Square (McGill Metro)\n\n\nThe number of tragic deaths at the hands of ICE has been steadily rising in the United States over the past year. Whether during “interventions” or in detention\, the number of victims continues to grow. For the most part\, this has been met with complicit and shameful media silence. We can no longer remain passive in the face this appalling catastrophe.\n\n\nWhat Is ICE?\n\n\nWe’ve been hearing about ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for months now. When first formed in 2003\, it was the federal agency responsible for enforcing US customs and immigration laws\, under the auspices of the Department of Homeland Security and working alongside Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The Canadian equivalent is the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).\n\n\nIn the summer of 2025\, Donald Trump orchestrated a new government-approved multi-billion-dollar budget for the agency—according to a January 21 NPR report\, funding for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency increased from US$10 billion in 2024 to US$85 billion in 2026. The augmented budget was meant to increase ICE’s capacity to track\, detain\, and deport the millions of alleged illegal immigrants in the United States.\n\n\nIn reality\, ICE’s militarized forces indiscriminately arrest people\, some of whom are undocumented\, others who are immigrants who have gone through legal channels\, and yet others simply because of their accent or skin color. Acts of barbarism against racialized communities are on the rise\, and the victims of this violence are countless.\n\n\nTo this end\, the agency has been recruiting thousands of agents over the past few months\, with promises of hiring bonuses. After very brief training these agents are immediately sent out into the field. Evidence points to recruiting primarily targeting the MAGA base and white nationalist circles\, milieus that are unapologetically racist. This amounts to giving carte blanche—and badges—to the most violent fringes of the far right.\n\n\nThese masked and armed agents appear to enjoy broad powers and complete impunity. In fact\, within a few months\, ICE has become a militia that acts autonomously and seems increasingly out of control.\nWhile state violence against racialized populations is nothing new\, either here in Canada or in the US\, and is structural in nature\, it is undeniable that we are currently witnessing a real acceleration in the drift toward fascism in the US.\n\n\nAs such\, we see ICE as a proto-fascist state apparatus of the sort that precedes and could accompany the establishment of a fascist government in the United States.\n\n\nEven if the ICE militia were disbanded\, there is a risk that its trained\, heavily armed members\, skilled in military and Gestapo tactics\, would continue their supremacist struggle in other forms.\n\n\nWhat’s Happening in Minneapolis?\n\n\nSince the beginning of the month\, ICE and CBP have been engaged a particularly aggressive campaign in Minneapolis. The arrests and raids have been met with fierce resistance from the affected communities and their anti-racist allies. This powerful resistance has led to the extrajudicial execution of two American citizens—Renee Good and Alex Pretti—which has received significant media attention. Both of those killed were doing nothing more than documenting the actions of ICE agents or coming to the aid of their neighbours. In both cases\, despite videos and overwhelming evidence of deliberate violence by the ICE militia\, the Trump administration has continued to advance blatantly false accounts of the events.\n\n\nThe Resistance Is Organizing\n\n\nThere is increasingly organized resistance: protests are multiplying in the United States\, communities are developing mutual aid networks that actively monitor the ICE militia and prevent some arrests\, unions are calling general strikes\, etc. Our neighbours to the south are not standing idly by in the face of this ongoing catastrophe.\nThe events of recent months have left us speechless and stunned. The apathy that has kept us at home has not only served the interests of our political enemies\, it has also served to trivialize what many communities in the United States\, as well as here and elsewhere\, have been experiencing for many years in various forms. We believe it is high time that we collectively take to the streets.\n\n\nWhy Should We Demonstrate?\n\n\n-To show that solidarity knows no borders.\n-Because the same is true of US imperialism.\n-Because there are many immigrant and undocumented people in Québec and Canada.\n-Because there is also a large US diaspora here.\n-To show our solidarity with those fighting against ICE in the United States.\n-To acknowledge that we are not immune to the consequences of identity politics and nationalism.\n\n\nThat is why we are calling for an initial solidarity vigil on Saturday\, January 31\, 2026\, 3:30 p.m.\, at Phillips Square.\n\n\nThis initiative is not ours alone: it is intended as a starting point for a series of actions north of the border in support of our comrades fighting south of the border. It is the first step in a process that needs to grow and spread.\n\n\nThis is only the beginning! The struggle continues!

SUMMARY:Contingent antifasciste et anticapitaliste
DESCRIPTION:L’ensemble du mouvement syndical appelle à une manifestation nationale le 29 novembre prochain sous la thématique : faire front pour les travailleuses et travailleurs\, pour l’état social et pour la planète. En somme\, pour s’unir contre les politiques violentes du gouvernement de la CAQ\, qui tire à boulets bruns sur tout ce qui évoque nos droits au travail\, la diversité et le filet social.\nEn parallèle\, des discussions et débats ont lieu au sein de certaines instances syndicales\, jusque dans les plus hautes sphères\, une partie de la base du mouvement leur mettant de la pression pour appeler à une grève sociale. Si cet appel n’a pas encore été lancé\, c’est notamment que la manifestation du 29 novembre devra servir de tremplin à cette mobilisation. C’est donc dire que cet événement prend une autre importance!\nLe Syndicat Industriel des Travailleurs et Travailleuses\, le Front antifasciste populaire et l’Organisation révolutionnaire anarchiste appuient cette manifestation\, seront présents pour prendre la rue avec l’ensemble du mouvement syndical\, mais aussi pour appuyer la base syndicale appelant à une grève sociale. Alors que le gouvernement de Legault vise à ruiner les droits des travailleuses et travailleurs\, déjà pourtant maigres\, nous ne pouvons qu’encourager cet élan combatif.\nNous pensons également que le discours doit tendre résolument vers une critique plus virulente du contexte actuel et de la crise du capitalisme qui se déroule sous nos yeux.\nCar plus largement\, nous voyons le système capitaliste effectuer un virage autoritaire depuis plusieurs années et ses différentes institutions adopter des discours et positions racolant de plus en plus avec celles de l’extrême droite. Les discours racistes de la CAQ (mais aussi du PQ et du PCQ)\, blâmant l’immigration pour tous les maux provoqués par le système capitaliste\, se multiplient et font écho dans l’espace politique\, public et médiatique. Il en va de même avec les paniques montées de toute pièce par rapport à la laïcité ou les communautés LGBTQIA2S+.\nC’est pourquoi nous ne voulons pas seulement dénoncer la CAQ\, qui n’est qu’un des visages de la tentation vers les discours fascistes ou fascisants\, mais l’ensemble des classes dirigeantes nous menant tout droit vers un futur dystopique si cela leur permet de maintenir leurs privilèges d’exploiteurs.\nNous ne pouvons donc qu’encourager le mouvement syndical à effectuer le travail de mobilisation nécessaire\, à adopter dès que possible des mandats en assemblée appuyant la grève sociale\, mais aussi à prendre des positions conséquentes par rapport à la montée de l’extrême droite.\nNous vous donnons donc rendez-vous le samedi 29 novembre à 13h30 à la Place du Canada à Montréal.\nSolidairement\,\n\nLe Front antifasciste populaireL’Organisation Révolutionnaire Anarchiste (O.R.A.)Le Syndicat Industriel des Travailleuses et Travailleurs (SITT-IWW Montréal)\n///\nAnti-Fascist and Anti-Capitalist Contingent on November 29\nThe entire labor movement is calling for a national demonstration on November 29. The theme will be: standing together for workers\, for the welfare state\, and for the planet. In short\, the objective is to unite against the aggressive policies of the CAQ government\, which threaten our rights at work\, social diversity\, and the social safety net.\nAs this unfolds\, discussions and debates are taking place within certain trade union bodies\, even at the highest levels\, with sections of the grassroot membership putting pressure on them to call for a social strike. This call has not yet been made primarily because the demonstration on November 29 is intended to serve as a springboard for this mobilization\, which gives this event an added importance!\nThe Industrial Workers of the World of Montreal\, the Popular Anti-Fascist Front\, and the Revolutionary Anarchist Organization support this demonstration and will be present to take to the streets with the entire labor movement\, but also to support the union rank and file calling for a social strike. As the Legault government seeks to undermine workers’ rights\, which are already meager\, we can only encourage this fighting spirit.\nWe believe\, however\, that the discourse must take a serious step forward toward a more far-reaching critique of the current context and the crisis of capitalism unfolding before our eyes.\nMore broadly\, the capitalist system has taken an authoritarian turn in recent years\, with its various institutions adopting rhetoric and positions that increasingly align with those of the far right. The racist rhetoric of the CAQ (as well as the PQ and PCQ)\, which blames immigration for all the ills caused by the capitalist system\, is on the rise and reverberates throughout the political\, public\, and media spheres. DESCRIPTION:Si de nombreux gouvernements occidentaux prennent un virage autoritaire depuis plusieurs années\, le gouvernement étasunien a accéléré la cadence sous la deuxième administration Trump. Incarcérations et déportations de masse\, utilisation de la garde nationale dans les villes démocrates\, discours haineux et extrêmement violent envers les communautés LGBTQ2+ et les populations migrantes\, atteinte aux droits reproductifs : les attaques fusent de toutes parts. À cela vient s’ajouter la désignation par décret présidentiel du mouvement antifasciste – et en réalité\, de toute pensée antifasciste – comme terroriste.\n\nQu’en est-il de la situation au Canada et au Québec? Eh bien\, nous ne sommes pas à l’abri d’un tel virage. \n\nDéjà\, depuis son arrivée au pouvoir\, le premier ministre Carney pige abondamment dans le programme électoral des conservateurs : régression flagrante au niveau des mesures environnementales\, cadeaux aux lobbies pétroliers\, projet de loi mammouth (C-2) qui cible les personnes migrantes et les droits à la vie privée de l’ensemble de la population. Et au Québec\, la CAQ ne donne pas sa place : restriction du droit de grève\, menace à l’autonomie financière des syndicats\, obsession sur (contre) les personnes trans et le langage inclusif\, fixation sur la laïcité dans le réseaux de l’éducation et les lieux publics\, appel de leurs membres en congrès à restreindre le droit de manifester… Pendant ce temps\, le PQ semble vouloir lui faire compétition avec un discours toujours plus réactionnaire\, populiste et conservateur\, sans même parler de l’improbable remontée du moribond PCQ.\n\nDevant une telle situation\, le Front antifasciste populaire (Front Pop) appelle toute personne inquiétée par ce climat social et voulant se mobiliser\, ainsi que tout groupe déjà en lutte et désirant faire face à cette extrême droite décomplexée\, à se joindre à nous pour une première manifestation de solidarité antifasciste. Nous enverrons un message de solidarité à celles et ceux qui luttent aux États-Unis et ailleurs\, mais aussi à nos propres gouvernements : nous ne nous laisserons pas écraser!\n\n\n\nAgainst the Rise of the Far-Right\, Let’s Build Popular Resistance!\nThis is a demonstration where everyone is welcome: bring your friends\, family and colleagues!\n\nWhile many Western governments have been taking an authoritarian turn for several years\, the US government has accelerated the pace under the second Trump administration. Mass incarcerations and deportations\, the use of the National Guard in Democratic cities\, hateful and extremely violent rhetoric toward LGBTQ2+ communities and migrant populations\, assaults on reproductive rights: the attacks are coming from all sides. Added to this is the designation by presidential executive order of the anti-fascist movement — and in reality\, of all anti-fascist thought — as terrorist.\n\n\nWhat about the situation in Canada and Quebec? Well\, we are not immune to such a shift.\n\nSince coming to power\, Premier Carney has been drawing heavily on the Conservatives’ election platform: blatant regression in environmental measures\, gifts to oil lobbies\, a mammoth bill (C-2) targeting migrants and the privacy rights of the entire population. And in Quebec\, the CAQ is not far behind: restrictions on the right to strike\, threats to the financial autonomy of unions\, obsession with (against) trans people and inclusive language\, fixation on secularism in education and public places\, calls by CAQ members at conventions to restrict the right to protest… Meanwhile\, the PQ is trying to outdo them with an increasingly reactionary\, populist\, and conservative discourse.\n\nIn light of this situation\, the Front antifasciste populaire (Front Pop) is calling on anyone who’s worried about this social climate and wants to take action\, as well as any group already fighting back and wanting to stand up to the far-right\, to join us for our first anti-fascist solidarity demonstration. We will send a message of solidarity to those fighting in the United States and elsewhere\, but also to our own governments: we will not be crushed!
